I am trying to decide whether to spend Jan to May in Mexico or Barcelona, Spain. Is it cold and gray in Barcelona in the winter--or can you still enjoy yourself outdoors?

I was there yesterday - Dec 9. You could have walked without a jacket (I foolishly had one, but it was superfluous). Landing in London, two hours later: 2 degrees, - 7 with the wind chill factor. So, yes, two hours' flight make a lot of a difference in Europe ! The best thing is the light : yes, even in the middle of winter, it is daylight until 18h00 (15-15h30 in London 16h30-17h00 in Paris), it's by the see so the clouds don't linger around. Actually, in a way winter is more pleasant than summer when BCN is suffocated by tourists and sticky heat.
Iam from greece , a very sunny country but i have to admit that barcelona is really wonderful in winter.not grey at all!If you go there you will not regret it!!!
