Barcelona Itinerary Review
My brain has seized and I'm only half way through my itinerary so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I have so far.
8 full days not counting travel nor arrival days.
Tuesday:
open
Wednesday:
- Palau Música Catalana tour
- Hospital de Sant Pau tour ( I believe these two sights are near each other but I'm confused with another Sant Pau hospital in a different area of the city, NE of Sagrada Familia.)
Thursday:
- Casa Calvet
- Sagrada Familia
- Casa Milà (tour at 6:00)
Friday:
Open in daytime; evening concert
Saturday:
- Parc Guell
- Palau Güell
- Casa-Museu Gaudí
- Casa Vicens
Sunday:
- Picasso Museum
- Cathedral to see Sardana dance (noon)
- Placa de Garriga Bachs
- Evening concert
Monday:
- Monserrat (full day)
Tuesday:
- Miro Foundation
- Catalan Art Museum
These are the things we still want to see if we can fit them in (and any other recommendations):
Eixample:
Casa Golferichs
Casa Domenech i Estapa
Casa de les Punxes
Casa de la Papallona
Casa Asia-Palau Baro de Quadras
Upper Barcelona:
Monestir de Pedralbes
Palau Reial de Pedralbes
Rambla:
Casa Bruno Quadros
Font de Canaletes
Gran Teatre del Liceu
La Boqueria
Sant Agustí
La Ciutadella and Barceloneta
Farmacia Saim
Synagogue/museum

Most of the Casas you listed under Example are private ...not open to public
also, they are not all close to one another.
The one you should see is Casa Batllo... across the street from Casa Mila.
Liceu tours are very good...
Palau Guell is just of Ramblas .

Casa Batilo is a must, as is La Boqueria. See if your hotel can get you a ticket to Batilo rather than waiting on line. Touring through that house was one of the most amazing experiences!
We booked a concert at the Catalonian Music Palace, instead of doing a tour. Terrific! If you do this at night, then you free up some time during the day.
I would leave time for just wandering the streets. Beautiful city.

I thought I had Casa Batllo on my list but I don't so thanks for the reminder. I'll slot that and La Boqueria in on one of the free days.
We do have concert tickets to the Music Palace one night but I'd like to do the tour as well. We're staying in an apartment so will have to get the tour tickets ourselves. I see I can do that from the web site.

I would spend Sat. or Sunday down by the water - sitting in a cafe, eating seafood and people watching would make a great day IMO.
As much as I like Barcelona, I might be tempted to add another outing - maybe to Stiges, Tarragona or Girona. I think you're a little heavy on the Gaudi and modernismo sights but they are unique. I assume at some point that besides being outside the cathedral, you will wander a bit in the Gothic quarter. Nice shops and outdoor cafes - enjoy!

jceilidh3 - I'm near Passeig Sant Joan and Carrer de Valencia. It looks like the closest metro station is Verdauger.
suec1 - We did consider Girona but there seems to be so much to see and do in Barcelona that we decided not to see Girona. Monserrat will be our only trip outside Barcelona (according to the current plan).
Both of us are leisurely travelers and don't like running from one place to another. We will be stopping in cafes for some down time and people watching so the waterfront sounds ideal. We'll have some time Sunday afternoon to wander the Gothic Quarter.
My watchword is Everything Gaudi!!! I'm sure I won't be able to get enough!

Go to articketbcn.com and get a pass if you're going to hit more than 2-3. Casa Mila is covered by it, Casa Batllo is not.
Would consider Parc Guell on a weekday.
I'll dissent on La Bocqueria - flashy and nice displays, quality is not job one. See if there's an equivalent of the Mercado San Miguel from Madrid - something off La Rambla. The whole area of La Rambla has a bang to hype ratio that is skewed the wrong way.

For a short trip outside the city, Colonia Guell is an interesting outing. More Gaudi!
