Can anyone provide me feedback on any of these hotels in Barcelona? They're all within what's described as the Eixample district which I hear is a good one. However, I know that even within nice neighbourhoods, there are not so nice streets or not so nice neighbouring buildings. Any info would be appreciated.
1. Hotel Astoria
2. Amister Hotel
3. Gallery Hotel
4. Hotel Barcelona Universal
I was also considering the Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya (which is not in Eixample ) because of it's good price and good reviews on tripadvisor.
Any thoughts/opinions/advice would be most welcome.

don't know the hotels, but the location of Torre would not be my choice. You will be spending a lot of time on Metro.
We didn't stay at The Gallery but went inside to check it out for a future tip. It's in a safe and pretty area and was a nice looking hotel. I bleieve it is one oKaren Brown recommends in her guide book.
have you looked at the guides written by fodorite Maribel?

she has a guide to Barcelona and to many of its hotels. She will also tell you a lot about the different areas of the city.

we usually rent apt. for longer stay in Barcelona, but we are considering this hotel for a 3 day stay in the spring.
I am staying at the Gran Torre in September - will report back.
We stayed at the Hotel Astoria last spring for one night, before leaving Spain. We chose it based on Maribel's recommendation because it was so close to the Avis rental car drop off. The room was small but VERY nice, the bathroom was lovely too. Extremely clean and modern. The staff was very helpful, and there was even a free computer with internet for guests to use, in a private area in what I would call the mezzanine. I highly recommend it.
