I can recommend Hotel Sixtytwo on Passeig de Gracia. Very central on upscale Passeig de Gracia: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/sixtytwo-barcelona.en.html
If you want something special in the medieval Gothic quarter and just as central, take a look at Hotel Neri: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/nerihr.en.html
It does help to tell us your hoped for pricepoint. I like Hotel Colon and the Hotel Regencia Colon - they are close together near the cathedral. Excellent location, good prices - but not hip.
