Barcelona Hotels??
Hi, my fiance and I are going to Northern Spain for our honeymoon in July. We are spending 3 nights in Barcelona. I have been researching hotels but keep getting such mixed reviews. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel? We are looking for a hotel in a great location that would allow us to walk to many things and are looking for a higher end type of hotel. Thanks!

There are a lot of good choices, but it will depend on your dates and budget. My first choices for a honeymoon would be the Hotel Majestic, Casa Fuster, El Palace or perhaps the Madarin Oriental, but for something a little more moderately priced you can check out the Hotel Avenida Palace.
There are also a few good choices on Las Ramblas, the Hotel 1898, Meridian, or the new 5-star Bagués (31 rooms).

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pulitzer (http://www.hotelpulitzer.es/index.php?idioma=en), very well located but on a quiet street. Excellent breakfast as well.

You can get Virtuoso amenities at the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona ... Complimentary buffet breakfast daily, upgrade on arrival subject to availability, and a bottle of wine and tapas for two at Bankers Bar once during your stay ... just by using a Virtuoso TA. The price is the same as the room-only Delight Rate you'll find on the MO reservations engine.

We stayed at Hotel 1898 and liked it. Beautiful rooftop pool and bar and the rooms were very comfortable. We had a lovely private terrace as well. It is right off of Las Ramblas so it's pretty convenient to The Gothic Quarter/El Borne. It's also right next to La Boqueria, the amazing outdoor market that you MUST visit while you are there. I also looked at Casa Fuster, Condes de Barcelona and Hotel Jazz. You might want to check out Hotel Neri, in the Gothic Quarter which was so beautiful and a little off the beaten track. You will love Barcelona! Fabulous city!

OK, we have looked at all the websites and have somehow narrowed it down to Hotel Majestic or Hotel Murmuri. It seems the Majestic has an ideal location but it looks a little old from the website. Hard to tell. The Murmuri looks fresher and modern. Anyone have any opinions on these two? Thanks again!!
