Mum and Dad and 17 and 14 year old daughters are in Barcelona for 4 nights in early February. Would we be best with an apartment or hotel? Would love any suggestions. It is final leg of 6 week trip before heading back to Australia. One of our daughters uses a wheelchair so a lift is important. Thanks
Barcelona hotel/apartment 4 nights

Apartments are more comfortable, but often located in older buildings . If there is an elevator, it could be rather small or (sometimes) there are several steps to climb before reaching the elevator.
I always prefer apartments over hotels. Access can be tricky in the older buildings but you might find one in a newer building and be happy to sacrifice some character for easier access. I live in Spain but have not stayed in Barcelona yet. I have this in my favourites

You might also find some reviews of Barcelona apts on www.slowtrav.com
or just google apartments Barcelona.
The other issue can sometimes be that many apartments are only available by the week, the other usual thing is for 3 night min - which would be fine for you.
You may need to consider the access inside the apartment as well and with 4 people check the size of the apt very carefully. Some are tiny. Also consider the heating - February will be cold.

take a look at these.
try http://www.bcn-rentals.com they have a selection of celan and central properties.
