Barcelona December 26, 2014 thru January 1, 2015

I am on the verge of booking this trip. I have been on various websites about Barcelona, but I would like (and appreciate) some firsthand advice. Can anyone tell me about the weather at that time of year? Also, I am looking at VRBO rentals and I am wondering which area to consider. I would prefer to be in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and transportation.
What should I do New Year's Eve? Where to eat, and celebrate?!
Thanks!

You can google weather anywhere in the world in about 3 minutes. Google is your friend.

Barcelona sounds like a fun place to ring in the New Year.

Here's a website I often use for weather stats:

www.weatherbase.com

You can find out averages for temps and precip at any time of year.

The area you consider will have a great deal to do with you budget. The nicer areas cost more...

As far as the weather is concerned, it's normally mild, but who really knows with what's happening around the world today.

You will be arriving after Christmas Day and leaving on New Years Day, which may be difficult if you plan on going out and celebrating the New Year in Barcelona. The celebration lasts until sun up for some people, 2 or 3 am for others.

Just remember that you will need reservations on New Year's Ever if you want to go out for dinner and to celebrate, otherwise just grab your 12 grapes and a bottle of Cava and head to the nearest plaza.

It's a tradition, like everything else.

"Eating 12 grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve is both a tradition and a superstition in Spain. Rare is the Spaniard who will risk poisoning their fate for the coming year by skipping the grapes, one for each stroke of midnight."

Note that December 26 is a holiday in Catalonia and that many attractions will be closed.

Reply to the above. It is Christmas day more than the second Christmas day that locations , including restaurants are closed. Well that is what I found when I was in the city one Christmas.
How are we to predict the weather at any time of year? Weather history websites cannot not foretell the future either. I was on the beach Christmas day.
