I'm going to Barcelona with my 3 kids (18 and 23)--we'll be there on May 12 for 3 or 4 nights. We'd like to rent an apartment--any suggestions on neighborhoods and on specific apartments or apartment services for us? I'm figuring around US $200/night.
Thanks!

Many posters, including myself, have rented from habitat.

Thanks. I'll check that out. Any recommendations as to location?
If this is your first time to Barcelona, staying near El Born or not too far off Passeig de Gracia in the Eixample would be good choices. Close to lots of cafes, shops and sights.
With four of you (or is it three?) you may want to stretch your budget just a bit to be comfortable. Most Barcelona apartment owners charge more for more people.
We stayed here as a family of five: http://preview.tinyurl.com/7ojtdln
Placa Catalunya is the center of Barcelona.
If you post the apt. You are considering, you'll get more input.
This seems to be a reputable place, where you should be able to find something suitable.

Friends of ours rented from them last spring, and we are renting from them in April.
Good luck! Hope you enjoy yourselves.
I'd recommend to have a look at this Web-site http://www.barcelonacheckin.com/en and pick an apartment close to the city center. In May it isn't yet high season, so you can find a luxury apartment for an affordable price.
Search this site, there are MANY threads on areas and apartments. Availability will depend on how many bedrooms you need.
Make sure you rent from an apartment agency that is listed on www.apartur.com. If Barcelona is your last destination in the Eurozone, make sure you get an apartment that will let you charge the security deposit. Habitat and many other renters make you leave a 300E or more cash deposit and carrying that kind of cash the day you leave for home is pretty useless - either you exchange it for dollars at the airport at a horrid rate, or you feel compelled to spend it.
"Habitat and many other renters make you leave a 300E or more cash deposit "
When we rented from Habitat, there was no requirement for deposit.
Have they changed their policy?
We rented from habitat and did not have to leave a deposit.
