Barcelona and Costa del Sol

I am planning at 10 to 12 day trip to Barcelona and then to the Costa del Sol the end of July. Any suggestions on places to stay in Barcelona and town in Costa del Sol.

Do you mean Costa Brava (near Barcelona) or Costa del Sol (near Malaga) ? If Costa del Sol, then Marbella.

Hi there,

It depends what you are looking for and what budget you are working with

I love Barcelona and my favourite hotel for that special occasion has to be the Ritz-Carlton (Hotel des Arts) room@200+ euros/night
http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Proper...na/Default.htm
It's a pricey option but steps from the beach and the spa is quite something. I suppose if you have Marriott Rewards you could find a deal.

Alternatively in the centre but not too much in the tourist trap is hotel Pratik Ramblas room@+- 120 euros night http://hotelpraktikrambla.com/en
The airport bus (6 euros) takes you to Plaza Catalunya and this hotel is less than a 5 mins walk away. Nice rooms, large showers and a great restaurant next door.

Alternatively and possibly cheaper depending on which website you choose -- I say this because I originally paid 160 euro then saw the same accommodation at 90 euros so cancelled and rebooked
-- Splendom Suites, nice modern apartments in the lovely Exiample district with lots of excellent restaurants and tapas bars in the vicinity although a good 15 min walk to the centre and Plaza Catalunya. A taxi from the airport to here cost around 35 Euros

Hope this helps but really depends do you want to be by the beach, in a nice residential area, in the main gothic quarter, in the centre near the shops?

There are tons of completely different places along the Costa del Sol. What are you looking for: jet set place? family beach? beach famous with young/elder people?

"not in the middle of the busiest tourist areas" Then don't head for the Costa del Sol, head west towards Cadiz.

For small rather unspoilt villages (end July is mega high season!) you may check the Cabo de Gata Natural Park area (roughly between Mojacar and Almeria).
