I'm off to Barcelona in May or June (yay!) and am currently researching accomodation options.
Considering both hotels and apartments. Leaning towards an apartment because I like the idea of a bit more room, and possibly some decent outside space like a terrace, though not 100% sure yet.
My main concern with apartments though is the level of service provided by the agencies doing the lettings - I've seen a surprisingly high number of reviews where people were assigned different accomodation to that which they'd booked when they were actually out there (due to 'overbooking'). Part of me thinks this might be a deliberate scam, and the other part that it's a consequence of the fact that some of the apartments are advertised with multiple agencies and lettings aren't being updated in a very organised fashion.
I did do a search on here and spotted several recommendations for Habitat - was just wondering if there are any other agencies that people were impressed with to give me a bit more choice. Oh, and anyone to avoid like the plague!
Many Thanks.

We've used an agency called Like Living There, http://www.likelivingthere.com. They're a little different in that you can't just book on the site; they confirm the availability and then collect a deposit. Then you are able to deal directly with the owner.
They don't have a huge inventory, but we've been pleased with the selection.
You can check the following websites for apartments in Barcelona. One of them should have what you're looking for:
www.mhapartments.com
www.apartmentsbarcelona.com
www.aspasios.com
Thank you very much kind people.
DestinationBCN rented me an apartment last year. I was very impressed with the level of service, as well as with the apartment itself. Unlike another agency I've used in Spain, they were more than willing to make reservations at restaurants, reserve airport transport, and help with any general questions we had during our stay. So we had the benefits of an apartment, with the servies of a hotel. I will rent with them again next time I am in the Catalan capital.
I have booked an apartment in El Born based off Alan's positive stay with likelivingthere. So far the communication has been wonderful!
