Bar? Pub?
I have just been informed by my son, whom we are taking to Paris for Christmas, that he doesn't want to just do the art and all that jazz...I think he wants someplace for Christmas Eve, fun for dinner, any suggestions. We are staying at Brighton Hotel....I know there have been many threads on restaurants, but just want to know what to expect from trying to locate a fun place for a thirty year old...perhaps the Montaigne area?

When I was 30 I wouldn't want my moma having any idea what I was doing for fun, much less asking her to take me someplace for fun. What maternal dominant culture are you from?
You must be kidding (on Fodor's you are known as a troll) but if you are for real tell your son to be a man, post on Fodor's himself, and describe what he means by fun and how much he is willing to pay. Does he want to be a passive spectator or in the action? I can give some tips and anecdotes on Paris but I'm not going to tell any son's moma. Turn him loose.
If he doesn't want to post his Qs here he can ask a taxi driver in Paris. That works in any city. The cabbie expects a nice tip for the info. Par lay voo frohn say, sea voo play?

I think your son would like the BUDDHA BAR, (and you will too-it's not age specific) which is a very cool, hip bar scene, with a large 30 foot Buddha that presides over the restaurant and the upper floor bar area-excellent in-house mix of world music, which you can buy at any major outlet that sells CDs-they are usually best sellers-restaurant is Asian-fusion, quite good sushi, very beautiful people from all over the world show up here, excellent mixed drinks.
Located on Rue Boissy d'Anglas, just in back of the Hotel Crillon, at Place de la Concorde.

Well actually I am not trying to be a "moma", just trying to have a holiday for someone who's parents have been all over the world and he has only seen Iraq, I thought that was what these message boards were for, never thought of it as trolling. Thanks girlspytravel, I will check out this place, sounds interesting. And BTW I would say that I have more than turned him loose.

Time Out's guide to paris is just what you're looking for - I assume you can get it on amazon, or certainly on amazon.co.uk or similar site.
it's aimed at younger people with an eye on what's trendy etc.
