Bamberg, Munich, Prague - Picturesque Squares
I am looking for recommendations for picturesque town squares in Bamberg, Munich, and Prague - squares that are a bit off the beaten path or perhaps on the beaten path, but aren't the squares people typically think of when they think of these cities. Charming places with good examples of historic architecture that give the atmosphere of the city without having the typical, iconic landmarks of that city.
The intent is to put together a photo set of pictures of town squares that will ultimately be part of an art piece in our living room at home. My husband is the photographer and I am the location scout.

Munich
Wiener Platz, Haidhausen district. Tram 18 or U4/5.
You will have the massive Hofbräukeller brauhaus (not to be mistaken for the more famous Hofbräuhaus) next to small houses that had been typical for this formerly poor neighborhood.
Gärtnerplatz, south of Viktualienmarkt.
A big rondel(?)/roundabout with the Gärtnerplatz theater.
You could do a 360° picture from the small "park" in the center of the place (is a round square still a square?) if your camera can do that.

Agree on Wiener Platz in Haidhausen, loved it. And Gärtnerplatz is really picturesque - that would be a "circus" in English, no?
Another one in Munich: St. Anna Platz in the Lehel district. St. Anna church and St. Anna convent vis-a-vis, quite intimate, small square.
Two more in the Haidhausen district: Weißenburger Platz and Bordeaux-Platz. The latter quite large (lengthy) but very authentic; locals hanging out there.
Prague:
Uhelny trh, a cute small square in the old town south of Staromestske nam.
Namesti Miru - a rather large square, 19th century architecture with a church dominating the square, quite off the beaten path
Same goes for two squares in the Karlin district - Karlinske nam. and Lyckovo nam. - totally non-touristy.
Bamberg: around every corner

Bamberg: the square between the cathedral and the baroque Bishop's palace comes to my mind.
However, the heart of Bamberg is not a square. The old town hall is located on a small island in the middle of the river with two connecting bridges. This location makes for nice town vedoutes, though.

I second Telc! The town square is ringed with very pretty pastel buildings! We fell in love immediately. And on either side of the town square, on the other side of the buildings, are two lovely ponds. Great for photographing reflections of the castle, trees, etc.
