Bamberg Hotel
Does anyone know of an inexpensive hotel (small) in Bamberg? Prefer with private bath.

Several years ago, we stayed in the small and inexpensive Hotel Alt Bamberg,
Habergasse 11. The local tourist office sent us there, and we found it centrally located within walking distance of everything. Be sure to try the local specialty, "rauchbier," or smoked beer.
It does not "travel well," and so is only found in Bamberg, we were told.

Yes, I know a WONDERFUL hotel in Bamberg!!!! It is the Brudermuhle. It is right in the center of Bamber. Our room (room #2) was overlooking the river (Regnitz). They had great wine and hte restaurant was nice. Read more about this hotel in Karen Brown's guide or on her website. WWW.Karenbrown.com. The hotel address is schranne 1, 96049, Bamberg, Germany
The phone number is (0951)955220 and fax is (0951)9552255. They have 16 rooms, accept mc/visa and the price is around 170dm. Open all year, restaurant closed Monday. We hardly ever stay in the same place twice when we travel to Germany, but this is a place we will definetly return to. Prost!
Lori
We stayed in the Bruedermuhle last June. Excellent place; ideal location. We were in room #1, a corner room so we had one window looking across the river, and one looking down river with a great view of the old town hall. Very good buffet breakfast, helpful staff, clean and tidy. It was 100 euros a night, not what we'd call inexpensive, but worth every penny.

We were in Bamberg several years ago and regret that we were only able to spend 1 night there, would have liked at least another night it was such a delightful city. We spent the night at the very small family owned Gasthauf Goldene Anker (sp??) which
had a nice convenient location maybe 4 or 5 blocks from the main attractions. It was quite a small room and spartan, but clean and with a private bath for around $50 a night. We had a car and there was a place to park across the street. However, I remember the wife didn't speak English, and I am trying to remember if the husband did. We made out ok though.
