For 14 of us I have found the following apartments for our 2 night stay in Bamberg in June.
One option is http://www.ferienwohnung-neumann.de/translation/englisch/index_englisch.html. The address is Luitpoldstr. 32, 96052 Bamberg. The owner says it is a 3 min. walk from train station and 10 min. walk to the downtown.
The other apartments are in "Little Venice with address of Fischerei 31, 96047 Bamberg http://www.live-like-a-german.com/apartments/show/1542/bamberg/vacation-apartment .
Does anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone stayed at either of these or in the area? We will just be using public transportation and would like to be able to walk to as most things.

The Little Venice location is closer to the center of Bamberg and the major points of interest. You will be walking 10 minutes from the Luitpoldstrasse address just to reach the Rathaus and there is much to see at least another 15-20 minutes west of there making some of the major points close to 30 minutes away.
Given the choices you presented, I would take the The Little Venice spot in a heartbeat.
An even better spot, if you find a FeWo you like, would probably be on the other (west) side of the Regnitz, and to the south of Little Venice. As close to the Rathaus as you can get is as central as you can get in Bamberg.
And one more thing - Schlenkerla
I stayed in Bamberg this May (click on my name and scroll down to read TR).
Little Venice is in a quieter/quainter location but is further from the train station/closer to the town's attractions.
Luitpoldstrasse is a main street, very close to the train station, but a good bit of car traffic.
Depends on whether you will be day-tripping every day or not.

Thank you for your input. We are set for the Little Venice area. We can't wait!
