Balmoral in August

Jump to last reply

I was reading a piece in The Times online today about the Queen on vacation, and came across this about Balmoral. Thought it might interest all us Scotland trip planners (notice the weather comment). Oh, and I love her response to the tourist comment -- very Brit! (Remember all those posts about "Understanding the English"?)
----------------------------------------
"On Royal Deeside, the Queen can slow down and rarely ventures outside the castle grounds. When she did pop in to the tea room in the nearby village of Ballater, she was accosted by a tourist. “You look awfully like the Queen,” she was told. “How very reassuring,” came the reply.

Balmoral in August can be cool and cloudy. The Queen never sunbathes."
