Backpacking Ireland

So I'm backpacking Ireland for roughly 2 months by myself, and I was wondering what are the places that I should definitely see. I'm bringing $7000 to spend, and I already have the plane ticket paid for. I'm also going to Paris for one week and London for another to meet up with some friends. I was wondering if this was a realistic trip. I'm also wondering what exactly I should bring (necessities, random items that no one thinks of) and if I should purchase a rail pass. I'm pretty much going on this trip on the fly so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
