Back from Paris
Hello Fodorites!
We are just back from our annual anniversary weekend in Paris. We spent 4 days eating, drinking and enjoying the city.
We did notice a huge decrease in the number of tourists!! We always go to Paris for our anniversary weekend and it was really noticeable!!
We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the food and wine.
This is my album if Paris, the first 20 or so photos are from this trip.

Happy travelling!

I agree that your photos are stunning. Your close up shots give me lots of ideas for next year. I must say though that the desolate, bare trees all lined up in a row is my favorite.
We were there in Sept. (Our usual time of year) and even though it was busy the tourists were definitely down from other years.

I especially liked that the trees are carefully trimmed so as not to grow into the trees on the opposite side.

DH and I are just back from our annual trip to paris as well. the weather was gorgeous, just a bit cold. I agree that tourism seemed down. very few Americans there. our plane going over was completely packed, but when we landed at CDG, I would say 80% went to the EU immigration side. we breezed through the non EU side. coming home, plane was less than half full (ah the good old days), and most went to the non US immigration line at JFK. interesting.
Paris was beautiful all dressed up for Christmas. the most stunning display was along the Rue St Honore, individual Baccarat chandeliers suspended across the Rue.
security was noticeable in the department stores. There are security people going through bags, and wanding folks as they enter. there are designated entrance and exit doors, and a lot of the entrance doors are permanently closed. Galleries Lafayette had only 2 entrances and exits available.
a salesperson we spoke to said sales are up compared to last year, but still not where they usually are.
we had a great time, great food, and wine, and basically relaxed.

Thanks so much for the lovely words everyone!
The wall with the art was around the corner from Rue de Buci.
Lilly, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I would pick the most economical option.
St Cirq, the countdown is on for Venice!!! Can't wait!
Enjoy the season everyone!
