d2roberts, try www.karenbrown.com, then click on the link: Italy B&B's.
She offers very nice properties.

Hi d2,

Try www.venere.com

If you will be in Florence, I can highly recommend the B&B Peterson.

Thanks everyone! I really need these - all the places I wanted to stay at in Italy so far have been full!

Wish me luck!

We were happy with the location and price of the B&B we recently stayed at in Venice, booked through veniceby.com (same site chicagolori mentioned above, italyby.com).

Ca'Turelli is the name of the B&B.

Also in Venice, on a previous trip we loved Casa Martini, booked directly through their own site, I believe it is casamartini.it.

In Rome, we loved the Nicolas Inn, a great B&B, booked directly through their own website: nicolasinn.com.

Where in Italy are you going?
Have fun!

I just booked all our October reservations in Rome, Florence and Venice on http://www.sleepinitaly.com/ . Very nice staff, very easy to book. Reasonable prices.

Good luck!

Oh! Thanks again...I'm having a tough time with Rome, so I will be looking into the Nicolas Inn.

For Manarola - we used one of the B & B sites listed above, can't remember now, but hopefully it will work out - everything is so booked!

We are going to:
Switzerland:
Gimmelwald
Montreux
Zermatt

Italy:
Manarola
Sienna
Rome

Melissa at the Nicolas Inn is from Chicago and I found her to be a fantastic source of help, so if the Nicolas is booked, ask her for a recommendation.

We stayed three nights at the Nicolas but couldn't get rooms there later at the end of our trip, so stayed two nights at the Hotel San Francesco in Trastevere. It was very nice, fantastic breakfast and a lovely little rooftop bar, but we were on a tight budget so it was expensive for us.

In Venice I was very pleased with everything at Palazzo Duodo (just off Calle dei Fabbri between St Marks Square and Rialto).

Annabelle - San Francesco was booked!

It's a nightmare. I can't remember where I left off yesterday with Nicolas...I'll have to go look. It's been over 24 hours and still no replies today, but I won't panic until tomorrow.

I'll agree with bender - sleepinitaly.com is a good place to search. I'd looked for months and finally found just what I wanted. Actually it's a little flat which is just fine. (1st floor no lift)Another good one (given me by the lady we rented from in June) is [email protected] . They have both B&B's and Apartments. But I couldn't find the area we wanted to stay. (We prefer the Monti area - it's more of a neighborhood, but most Fodories prefer to be more central in Rome - close to the Pantheon etc)
Anyway, good luck.

Let me know about the Nicolas...too bad about San Francesco.

We recently also had lots of trouble finding a place in Rome (we were just there at the end of May/early June) and the two of us "in charge" of the Rome bookings were beginning to get worried, as you are. Don't give up, you will find something! People cancel, too, remember. I had three places booked in Rome at one point until all the members of our party could take a look and give input and then cancelled the others when we decided on Nicolas, so if you have time you can always email back to some of the "no's" and see if things have changed.

Nicolas is full too; I just got the e-mail this morning.

So far the only opening I have is for the hotel colors.

I'll keep searching!

I can highly recommend Fellini B&B www.fellinibnb.com tel 39 3471437059. Last year I know they were busy getting another place ready so they might have another option if this is booked.
