B & B in Tuscany

I need to find a nice a B&B in Tuscany soon. My husband & I leave Oct. 18 and will be in Tuscany Oct. 25 - 28. I'd like a B&B with a good breakfast, beautiful view, and within walking distance to a town as we probably will not have a vehicle. As long as we're talking if you've flown in a hot air balloon in Tuscany I'd love recommendations as well.

You really need a car to see Tuscany.
Look at the Politian apartments in Montepulciano.

A car is a must IMO as bob states above. We stayed at Fonte Bertusi last year in an apt but they also have a B&B. The breakfasts are unbelievable. So much wonderful food. It is located just outside Pienza but you will need a car to get to town. Please rethink getting a car. The driving is very easy in the Tuscany region. The roads are a bit narrow in the hilltop towns but not impossible by any means. You will be able to see so much more of the beautiful countryside with a car.

Well, Tuscany is a big place. Florence and Pisa and Lucca are all in Tuscany. But if you mean one of the hill towns near wine areas, you could go to Siena by bus and just stay there the whole time. I don't know of any places myself there, as it's been years since I was there.

I've wondered if it is practical to do Tuscany without a car. Our trip starts in Venic on the 19 & from there Tuscany on the 25 & finally Rome on the 28. I would imagine we would pick up a car when we leave Venice & then drop it off & take a train to Rome, or would you suggest driving closer to Rome before dropping off the car? I've had many people tell me we don't want a car in Rome & this is our first trip to Italy.

Hi sweetjen,
You can either rent a car in Venice and drive to Tuscany or take a train from Venice to Arezzo or Florence etc and rent a car there. A lot of people return their car in Orvieto and train to Rome to avoid the congestion and traffic in Rome.
