Attalos hotel in Athens. One more question!
I read many, and only positive, comments about the Attalos hotel on this forum. However, Frommers (not Fodors) states that the area is not the best and some drug and prostitution activities are taking place near by. Did you observe anything like that? Did you feel safe or not walking at night to your hotel? What was your impression of the area? Trying to make smart decission for our 18 days trip to Greece.

Wow, I never noticed any problems in that area. That's not to say there isn't anything - any area can have its problems - but we felt totally safe walking around. It's on a busy street, and you're very close to the Plaka. We certainly didn't worry when we were out in the evening.

I third the comments about safety. We were two women (still are two women) traveling alone and were out early and late . . . never had a problem, never felt unsafe, always lots of people on the streets. We could and did walk almost everywhere.

My husband and son are both in law enforcement and I am always very aware of my surroundings (their training has rubbed off) . . . if we had seen drugs, unsavory characters, etc., I would have spotted them.

Hope this helps,
Sandy
