one of my proposed flight plans has a flight
of 1 hr and 20 mins from Vce Venice to MUC
Munich then transfer to our "real" plane for the flight back to SFO. has anyone ever flown on an ATR42 Turboprop?? Is this like a puddle jumper (yikes-I'll never get my hubby on one then!) or more like the kind used by Southwest for a Oakland to Las Vegas
or Los Angeles flight?

Trip Ideas
The "prop" in Turboprop is the giveaway. This is a 40 passenger propeller driven plane. American Eagle used to fly these. While I definitely like a jet better, even the small ones now used by AE, the ATR42 is a perfectly fine plane and will get you from VCE to MUC without incident.
Southwest only flies Boeing 737 jets; the ATR42 is something totally different.
Turboprops are smaller, noisier, flies slower and most importantly lower. Maximum altitude is around 24,000ft but often lower. Flying over the Alps, it can be potentially bumpier than a regular jet.
