ATMs in France, Italy, Spain
I have a Bank of America account in the USA. When I travel to UK I can use my card at Barclay's ATMs without incurring a service charge from BofA. Does anyone know of banks in France/Italy/ Spain which have the same reciprocal service?
I did call BofA but reckon I will get a clearer answer from Fodorites.

I used my ATM at Barclays in Spain and paid no fees. In France the partner bank is BNP Pariabas, which you will find everywhere. Here is a list of all partner banks in case you find those in Italy, or in case you need this info for another trip:
Barclays - United Kingdom
- Deutsche Bank - Germany
- Scotiabank - Canada
- BNP Paribas - France
- Westpac - Australia and New Zealand
- Santander Serfin - Mexico.

Not to add any confusion, but I did have problems with my BankofAmerica ATM card at Deutsche Banks in Italy. It used to work fine, but last year the Italian Deutsche Banks switched to using VISA international services for the ATM transactions and now your card must have a VISA symbol on it. That means your card needs to be an ATM/debit card which I assume yours is. My problem was that I had switched to an ATM only (no debit function, therefore no VISA symbol) so it would not work.
I would not return to Europe without my ATM card also being a debit card.

Beware of ATM fraud! I recently got ripped off $2000.00 in Paris by using my ATM card at a BNP ATM. There are many scams and my information was apparently otained simply by using the card. Luckily, my bank replaced my money.

That is scary, smourlam. I don't know if this happened in Paris, but I have heard of ATMs where the thieves set up illicit and well-concealed cameras to view passwords, in combination with some sort of card copying device actually within the ATM, to steal the needed info.
Was this an outside ATM? I used a BNP ATM which was outside also.
How did your bank unravel the scam?
