athens, Greece hotel
We are stopping in Athens, Greece this summer for 3 nights with my kids (ages 9 & 12). Any hotel suggestions?
I am having a hard time making sense of all these guide books and thought it might be good to get some advice.
thank you

I'm with brotherleelove...Stay near the Plaka for convenience. The Attalos Hotel is perfect.
We stayed at the Attalos, it's very near a brand new subway station, a couple of blocks up from the Plaka, and has a lovely rooftop bar where you can go sneak a reasonably priced drink after the kids are down for the night, while overlooking the Acropolis.
We LOVED the place...outstanding service, great location, and very good price. The rooms were clean and neat...we ended up in a twin instead of a double, but that was doable for the few nights we had there.
Happy travels,
Jules

In July, my wife, my kids (ages 12 and 13) stayed the Dorian Inn Hotel 2 blocks off Omonia Square --great fresh orange juice at breakfast and a rooftop swimming pool--our kids swam and we got to look at the sights -- including the Acropolis.

I'm amazed at how you can offer advice when ignorant of budget. It's like someone saying "I'd like a nice suit, can you recommend me to a designer/tailor?". The answer would be very different if their budget was 100USD or 10000USD.

We stayed at the Hotel Attalos because many on this board raves about it. We were very dissappointed. We also had twin beds that were tiny so hard - it was like a really cheap boyscout camp. And the breakfast room smelled to the point where I couldn't eat (not that the tang orange drink was all that much to give up). We had a decent amount of street noise - and a telephone outside our room that rang day and night (it was in a common area). We always stay in 1 stars - but never again this one.

Why not staying at a resort like the Divani Apollon Palace on the Athens riviera ,or the Lagonissi Grand resort and enjoy the beach and resort facilities?
Tha Ledra Marriott has double/double rooms for families, a rooftop pool.
