Athens Airport

My daughter will be studying this summer in Athens and then I will be joining her for a week when she is done. I am sure she will take 2 suitcases when she goes. After spending some time in Athens, we will fly to Crete and then by ferry to Santorini. She will not want to haul all of her stuff with her for that week. Does anyone know if there are lockers at the Athens airport where we could leave a suitcase for the week until we return to fly home?

There are lockers at Athens Airport, but they charge by the hour rather than by the day - you would find them very expensive for a week. Can't your daughter arrange to leave her luggage where she is staying? Apart from that, I understand there are lockers at Monastiraki Station in central Athens, but I don't have any details on price.

I have left my luggage at the Athens airport (basement level, I think). But I only left it for a day and it was somewhat expensive (5 or 7 Euros for 1 bag?).

Here's the airport web page, though all they give is a phone number for the left luggage company.

This is a link directly to the Pacific website where you can find prices: http://www.pacifictravel.gr/baggage.html. Like many Greek web pages, it is woefully out of date ;-), but at least it will give you an indication of cost.

Here is a hostel that offers long term luggage sorage, but I don't know if you have to first be a guest to get the service: http://www.hihostels.com/dba/hostel023005.en.htm.

Other than that, it comes back to Monastiraki Station. Were you planning to fly directly from the islands to Athens for a same day connecting flight home? If so, I can understand why you wouldn't want to go back into the city.

Since your daughter will be in Athens before you join her, she will have ample opportunity to find the best alternative. If she checks with the place where she will be staying, it may even let her leave her luggage there for free.

Hi

We left our luggage at the airport when we flew to Paros. We were so glad we did! I don't know if we could have got all our luggage on otherwise. The plane to Santorini is quite large but the one to Paros is a prop jet. I was pleasantly surprised re the cost of storing 2 large roller bags. It ended up being well worth it. The details as other posters have offered: Run by "Pacific" - www.pacifictravel.gr. email:[email protected]. PH (+30) 210 32 41007, FAX (+30) 210 32 33685. On the ground floor, south (?) end of airport.

Thank you so much for the information. Yes, we are flying back from Santorini and then on home the same day, so going back into the city would not be practical - paying for the convenience at the airport would be worth it.
