Arr. Basel; onward train journey to Lindau

I need some help please as I arrive Basel at 6pm. I understand I can get train from Basel BAD and need to know how far this station is from the airport and how to get transport to station. Can I buy my ticket onboard in case I am rushing. If my flight arrives at 6pm I see there is a train leaving at about 19:45. Will there be enough time to make this connection? Also any suggestion as to whether a rail pass would work out better. I am senior woman traveling solo. Thank you for any helpful information.

You can buy your train ticket for Basel Bad station to Lindau on the web and print out at home. If that is your only rail travel you plan, a pass will be of no benefit.

To get to the station, and want to take public transport, you'd take a bus from the Swiss sector of the airport to Basel SBB station, and a tram from there to Basel Bad station. You should have enough time to make that transfer from the airport, but it can be a bit tight. A taxi will be more expensive but probably easier. Will your flight arrive at the French or Swiss sector?

I was in Basel to see the Kokoschka painting earlier in the year.

The bus from the airport is frequent, quick and easy. Once in the town the trams are equally good. I don't think a taxi would necessarily be quicker.

Many thanks for responses. I just booked my ticket and printed it so am all set. I did not order Banf card 25/50, just paid the Eu. 32.40 ticket.

I will be taking some day trips from Lindau and then have to continue north towards Frankfurt for my return flight. Not sure how to get discounts on the trains. Any suggestions for best route and where to make overnight stops? All your help is much appreciated.

My flight is on Easy Jet from Bordeaux to Basel. I have purchased a train ticket for 19:45 departure from Basel BAD staton to Lindau but am wondering if I will need to Swiss francs for ticket on bus and tram? Once I get to the tram I may be able to pay in euros, but does anyone know about the Bus to Basel SBB? Is Basel Bad on German side? I am hoping someone is familiar with the connection. Thanks to all.

It's the same ticket.

>am wondering if I will need to Swiss francs for ticket on bus and tram?

The bus stop at Basel airport has a ticket machine that accepts Euro coinage. You simply buy a ticket for zone 10, and change at SBB station to the tram 2 to Badischer Bahnhof (final destination). Your ticket is valid for 1 hour so don't make too long stopover or you will have to buy another ticket.

For approximate orientation here the tram/bus line network of Basel

altamiro: Many thanks for all the information. I hope everything runs on time as I have to try to get on that train to avoid overnight delay.
