First, thanks so much to all on this board who have helped tremendously as I plan my Feb. trip to Northern Ireland. The pieces are coming together -- but nothing is locked in yet.
I'm considering staying at the Limepark Cottages in Armoy as a base to visit the Glens, Giant's Causeway, and the Antrim Coast. (After my holiday, I'll be working in Belfast -- so no need to include Belfast in my itinerary.)
The self-catering cottages look WONDERFUL -- and are very reasonably priced. I'd hoped to also visit Derry and possibly the Mtns. of Mourne, but these seem too far to enjoy day trips from Armoy. Is a week too much time to spend there? I'm hoping to enjoy some relaxing walks, explore charming towns, and enjoy the scenery. Would you suggest a shorter stay in Armoy -- and one night in Derry and the Mourne Mtns. I appreciate your feedback.
Armoy as a base? Is a week too long?

On the whole, NI is pretty compact. I think you could do a day trip to Derry from Armoy. The highway is pretty quick. Mourne is farther away. You might want an overnight in that area. If you are going to work in Belfast you might do Mourne on a weekend instead.
Also . . . should I try to include Donegal? I have 8 days (before I go to work in Belfast) and am trying to find a balance between relaxing -- and wanting to see the "best" scenery and sites.
Thanks for your help!
A lot of the self catering places will rent for mid-week. You could do that and then spend a few days in other locations. Donegal is a pretty big county. You might want to save it for a long weekend.
