My wife and I will be visiting London in June. In the past, we have stayed in the usual tourist areas, e.g., Soho, Covent Gardens, Kensington. We are interested in other areas of London such as Notting Hill, Camdentown, Hampstead Heath. Does anyone have other suggestions or can you share your experiences in these areas?

Hampstead Heath is worth a day and could be a good place to live but it is a longish way from most of the places you would want to visit.
There's Notting Hill and there's Notting Hill. If you are sure your rental/hotel is in Notting Hill and not some place that for real estate purposes is masquerading as Notting Hill, then okay. We have stayed in Holland Park a long time ago and liked that area a lot.
If I were within walking distance of Islington, I would not be unhappy though for a long time it was famous as the home of the Chattering Classes.
We have friends who live in Little Venice, and that whole area of Maida Vale-St Johns Wood-Regents Park is not much frequented by Americans, though it is very, very pleasant.
what about Bloomsbury?
still very central but quite different to the other places you've stayed in.
Baba4, have you considered the Southbank with fabulous views of the city across the Thames?
