Area on the Italian Riviera starting with S

A friend was telling me at lunch that her neighbors had really, really liked something on the Italian Riviera starting with S. Any suggestions? (Please don't scold any of us for not knowing the answer right off the bat!)

Hi Underhill! Scold you. For what? I don't understand though. What was it that this person liked? A town, a restaurant, a hotel etc? Best wishes and hope you are feeling better.

We stayed in Sestri Levante once, a town. Does that sound familiar? We really enjoyed the area and it was a short train ride to Cinque Terra.

It was a place on the Italian Riviera, about which I know zip. I'll pass all the suggestions on to my friend so she can ask her neighbors just what and where this special place was.

Starting to feel a bit stronger, LoveItaly--thanks for asking.

Joan,

San Remo was the only thing that came to my mind, which shows you how little I know of the region. (Now if it were the French Riviera...!)
