Are we there yet..to Bayeux?

Hoping to drive from Paris to Bayeux for a few days visit. May stop in Mont St. Michel at the end of our stay. How long is the drive from Paris to Bayeux? and Paris to Mont St. Michel? Do we expect much traffic? Have read several comments about traffic jams and such. Thanks.

You will Bayeux and the tapestry I am going there again in September with a friend who has never been. If I remember correctly it's a fair drive from Paris to Bayeux but not too bad from Bayeux to Mont St Michel.

We are going from Paris to Honfleur stopping in Giverny and Rouen on the way, Stay in Honfleur and leave the next day for Mont St. Michel stopping in Bayeux and Ormond Beach along the way.

I know you will love your trip...Have a Great time.

Map it on viamichelin.com. We made this drive from CDG several years ago and in spite of my best efforts to preplan the route and have the best maps we made the wrong turn and got lost in Paris. Had this not happened the drive would have been about 3 hours max but ended being more like 5 hours for us. Just plan carefully and remember always look for the signs that lead you in the direction of Caen.

You could always do what I did: take the train from Paris to Caen and rent a car there. That way you don't have to worry about driving into/out of Paris. Driving in Normandy is extremely easy.

Jammy, sorry to hijack thread...

VagabondLady, that sounds like a really aggressive plan... we loved Honfleur and only one (short) night wouldn't have allowed us to appreciate it. You may want to consider:
- not stopping en route to Honfleur
- skipping MSM (there are many mixed reviews about this)

Personally, I would recommend skipping the visit to MSM - stay 2 nights in Honfleur - that way arriving there late will still allow you to appreciate it. Do day trips to Bayeux the next day returning to Honfleur to have dinner at a cafe by the waterfront...

Dinner at the harbor in Honfleur is worth two evenings!

Surfmom...sorry so late in getting back to this thread I haven't had much computer time of late.

As far as going to Honfleur, I have been there before and my friend who is going with me has not but she wants to see MSM and I was just squeezing in a pass thru Honfleur because I want her to at least see it because I loved it so much over there. I even bought a painting the guy was finishing up as I watched. So this time Honfleur was not really a planned event but I just wanted her to see it if nothing else. I personally would rather spend a whole day there instead of MSM but she is really dead set on seeing MSM so since I have been to both I am letting her have her way. It matters not to me. I will enjoy it all no matter what because as long as I am in France I am a happy camper !!!
