Are we crazy thinking about flying into Amsterdam on Queen's Day?

Jump to last reply

We'll be on our way to Tuscany in early May and we're thinking about stopping in Amsterdam for a few days first. The best option to fit with our travel plans gets us to Amsterdam on Queen's Day, 30 April. I know it's a national holiday and most of the city shuts down. I assume the tourist sites will be closed? Will the city be a madhouse or will walking around getting our bearings and stretching our legs after a long flight be an option? I'm not quite sure what to expect.
