Are fashionable ladies in Europe wearing the skinny-legged jeans?

Are fashionable ladies in Europe wearing the skinny-legged jeans and long tunic tops? I'm hoping that this is just an ill-advised US trend that will come and go quickly. If not, stirrup pants can't be far behind!

Its MUCH worse than that Missypie - Leggings are back in!!!!

I stick by the fashion rule: If you wore them the FIRST time around, you are too old to wear them the SECOND time around

Skinny-legged jeans have now been and gone (only Kate Moss can really carry them off), but leggings under short skirts with ballet pumps are still around just about.

Yeah, I found out about the leggings-under-skirts look this summer, from ny 10 year old. She bought a very cute little skirt in Rome and I said it would be too short to wear to school - she said, "No mom, you wear leggings under it." First I'd heard.

I tend to agree with the "if you wore it the first time" rule.

OReilly, I agree that leggings are much more terrifying than skinny jeans...the image of super-sized ladies in white leggings and short tops, allowing us to see every bump and dimple, is still burned in my brain from 15 years ago.

Well, at least leg warmers aren't back, or bat-wing sleeves, or wearing rags on your head ....

Gawd, what WERE we thinking of!

Yes I wore leggings the first time around...had great legs, wore them in the winter with tall boots, but....I have NO intention of EVER wearing them again unless it was UNDER pants or jeans, to keep my legs warm in the winter. I agree with you OReilly, and unfortuneatly, that rule applies to more than just leggings. LOL

I believe I actually still have a pair of pink leg warmers from 1984.

However, about three years ago, I got rid of all the skinny jeans, stirrup pants and tunic tops. Maybe the resale shop to which I donated them still has them and I can buy them back.

What about the "claw" bangs? Are they back in, too?

Anything is better than the ubiquitously insidious capri pants we've had the displeasure of looking at for years. They make me want to scream! -- but often I find myself laughing.

Oh NOW you've done it Bluestar! Be prepared for a reaction

But, I agree - Capris should be worn only by women over 6 ft and under a size 4.

Ok, I know I'm getting old when I've been around long enough to see an old fashion fad come back around again. I remember wearing the leggings-under-skirts look when I was back in college.

I flip through the magazines with the pictures of today's celebrities in that particular fad and I swear it looks just like the stuff from my closet circa the late 80s/early 90s.

Oh man! I always forget that Europe is about a year ahead of us in fashion...so, does this mean I am going to look like a total idiot walking around in my capri pants in September in Sicily?

Regardless of what month or year it may be be, I think that's a safe assumption.

Fear not, capris are still very much around in Europe, especially on men! (Talk about a look very few can pull off!)

I'm on the same page with OReilly and Missypie ... the first time for a fashion was fun, the second is disastrous. The "been there, done that" rule ought to be obligatory. And, having just read Vogue as well as the NY Times Fashion section this past weekend, I hate to tell you, Oreilly, but leggings are back with a vengeance.

Capris are a whole other story. I wore them when I was about 8 or 9 but (gee, how much am I dating myself with this?), they were called "pedal pushers" back then. Hated them then, haven't worn them since.

I can live with capri pants and stirrup pants, but I am so not looking forward to the return of big 80s hair. GAAAAAAH

The last time leggings under a skirt was The Look in the US I wore them to Italy and people looked at me in amazement. I think they thought I hadn't taken off my long underwear. It was pretty funny but I wore them anyway.
