Anyone have suggestions to take the Grimsey Island/Arctic tour in Iceland or the Kulusuk, Greenland tour from Iceland. Thanks.

I would strongly favor a tour of Greenland. It is a different country (take passport to get it stamped), and we walked about a mile on a glacier to a native village. Flying back, the plane went down the coast for a view of many glaciers. Most memorable.

We didn't go to Grimsey, but I imagine the whole thing is just to say you were at the Arctic Circle.
It's been some years since we took the tour to Greenland that I described above. I don't know if your itinerary is different
Thanks for your input. I talked to a lady whose sister lives in Iceland and she said to skip Grimsey for the same reason.
Hi lifeofspa -
I took the Kulusuk, Greenland day trip from Iceland this past August. It was amazing. I had originally tried to book through Icelandair but they were sold out. I ended up booking with Horses North. They were actually cheaper and great to work with.

I've been to both Grimsey and Greenland - different trips.
We did our own trip to Grimsey, took the ferry there and back in one day. The ferry ride was a few hours each way. We were staying in Akureyri and took a bus to the ferry port (about 1/2 hour away, I think). Grimsey was one of the absolute highlights of the trip to Iceland.
It's such a rugged, small island. We walked to the Arctic Circle monument and our heads were attacked by arctic terns the entire time. Also saw a lot of puffins and other birds. This trip was in June.
We had tried to get reservations for the one or two day East Greenland trips, but couldn't, so we went to Grimsey instead. These tours sell out FAST! (We also booked most of our Iceland trip through Horses North)
So a few years later, we took a four day trip to Greenland in January (from Copenhagen). It was dark and cold. However, there was much more snow at home in New England! I really enjoyed Greenland too, despite the cold.
Anyway, they're completely different places. Both leave you feeling like you've been someplace so remote and beautiful.
Enjoy!!!
