I don't have an iphone or ipad, but if you just want to look at a map, that's easy to do, you could just print a copy. RATP gives out maps of the bus lines, also, but I guess a lot of people don't want to carry one around.

But the website clearly has an app on it you can download, it's in the Apple store, so is there some reason you can't use that?

I have the ratp app available for iPhone and iPad. It meets our needs when we're there.

You should be able to get the information at www.ratp.fr. It's mobile friendly.

There is also an app available from the Apple Store: http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_21130/application-ratp/

"Avec l’application officielle "RATP", optimisez vos déplacements en Île-de-France !"

Yes, thanks! That app does work on Apple products & I have used it on visits to Paris. I was hoping to duplicate the one in my OP - it's great for bus lines. Maybe they dont have that particular interactive map in an app.

Mine came from the Apple store and work for trains and buses Paris. Look at the apps available on the iPhone. What I have and use is interactive and sounds like what you were using.

What I like about the link in my OP is that you click on a bus line and it shows where it goes, when it runs if there is traffic on the line. So you can play around with how to get somewhere. I used to use it on my lap top when traveling, but don't take that anymore. So was hoping that I could replicate it on my iPad and iPhone.
I have used the one to which you refer I think, Judy. It's fine for traveling about and checking how to get from point A to B. Maybe the app does more than I am aware.

You can, of course, download PDFs of everything from the huge, very detailed, and very useful <strong>bus map with streets</strong> to simple metro maps to individual PDFs of bus schedules and line maps.

Then load them onto your iPhone -- be sure you have a good PDF reader on it.

It won't give you real-time info...but it really helps.

That's what we do in addition to some of the other apps mentioned above. (We generally do that for any city we visit.)

I'm planning on using a new app called CityMapper for my trip next May/June. It has real time info, and I will have full data ability on my iPhone 6 + and it allows you to use your current location, then enter an address or use the map on it to zoom to your destination and select it that way. It then gives you numerous options for the route(s), including walking, and you can scroll down to select the quickest, or Metro/Rail or Bus Only options. It then gives you directions to the bus stop, the bus info, and then the stops on the bus.

apersuader65 - have you used CityMapper app yet? I put it on my phone, but have yet to try it out. Guess I should give it a try in my home city.

yestravel- I've already programmed my apartment location as HOME! It is incredibly intuitive, and I have to manually turn of the GPS function when I mess with it. I have already saved somewhere around 10 restaurants I like or want to visit. The really good function is the ability to simply use its' map to select where you want to go, I simply zoom into the area I'm interested in, say the Eiffel Tower area, and select that area as my location. If it works over there as it does here, I'm going to love it.

I usually am the "tour guide" over there for DW, and on previous trips other family as well. (Due most likely to my 30 year old french minor from college) That means I'm constantly having to think ahead and plan the public transport route taking into account the mobility of whom I'm guiding. This trip will be somewhat of an adventure, as we're going with friends who liked our photos of our last trip so much they asked if we'd be willing to let them "tag along" on our next trip. Citymapper appears as though I'm going to appear to be a genius of all things Paris, and I certainly have been planning for this trip much more than previous trips. If Citymapper fails me, I'm in big trouble!

Wow! sounds great. I guess I really need to figure out how it works. Sounds like a great app. I love programming in where you might be going. I didnt know you could do that. I will definitely give it a try next month and let you know how it works out. thanks for the suggestion.

I downloaded free apps from "RATP" and "Transit" to my Iphone 5 for our trip earlier this month. They changed the way we navigated around Paris, and made for a very easy trip. There's no need to wait until you're on the ground in Paris, just download them and let the fun begin. I also found "La Fourchette" and "Pages Jaunes"(autour de moi) helpful as well. EJ

Just a test...the Preview and Submit buttons have not been working for a few days now.

...just previewed successfully...

Now I'll paste my post in and see if it still works:

Nope...did not work.

Something is wrong with the paste function on this forum.

Yestravel...

Link for bus:

http://www.ratp.fr/informer/pdf/plans-bus/plans_bus.php

(hope I got it right, typing and not pasting)

You can enter a bus number for line maps or use the links further down for a map with major lines or large map with streets.

All are PDFs that you can then copy to your Android phone directly or to your iPhone using iTunes...as long as you have a PDF reader app installed.

Hope this helps.

Yestravel...

They have similar PDFs for Metro and RER.

Do you know how to copy files to an iPhone? It's a pain, but it can be done. You have to use iTunes (or a third party file copying app.) iPhones only seem to accept files for which you have specific apps installed.

I don't know how to copy files to my iPhone or iPad. But the map you linked shows what I wanted, so I should be fine. Maybe we'll be lucky and have nice weather in Nov/Dec and we won't use buses that much.b thanks, again!
