Apologies ... I know I read the answer, can't remember the details or hints

I know I have read the answer/suggestions to a similar scenario BUT for the life of me am unable to use the correct words to find the previous discussion with search. My apologies .... however I would truly appreciate your suggestions and information.

I arrive Heathrow Terminal 5 at approximately 11:30 after an overnight flight from the west coast of United States. . Meeting 2 women who arrive T1 at noon from Amsterdam. We are waiting for the 4th who arrives T1 at 1:30. The plan is to take a car service then to the rented flat. I will have a piece of checked luggage (for good reason - it has the other ladies clothes - longer story and I've no complaint about doing it.)

Looking at the maps of Heathrow it appears as though I have a choice of transportation options BUT I need to allow 1 hour to get from T1 to T5 - really? Does that time include getting luggage? finding the loo? using the bancomat? What would you suggest for transfer .... Silly me I thought I could walk between terminals ... I've been disabused of that notion.

The plan is for the 3 of us on the ground to gather at T5, along with the car service drivers, and snag the 4th as she enters the terminal from immigration. We all follow directions and will WAIT at the meeting point until ALL have arrived (I keep remembering janisj's story with the SCQ). Did I read the drivers are near a Costa Coffee?

The issue for me is expedient movement between T1 to T5 with a piece of luggage, 25" roller.... recommendations please.

Again, my apologies for requesting information I know you've shared before

Happy Travels,

I can't follow your question.

Unless you've mistyped, your logic's mad . If you have mistyped, you really, really ought to be ashamed of yourself for not checking before wasting other people's time.

Your last and fixed point is T1 at 1330. You claim your fellow travellers are arriving there at 1200. So what's the point of your travelling backwards and forwards?

The ONLY cost-free landside connection between T1 and T5 (several miles apart) is the Heathrow Express. This takes six minutes, but trains are every 15 mins. No-one on earth has the foggiest idea how long it's going to take you to get from an arriving plane to it. On the offchance the plane arrives on time (unlikely) it probably averages an hour to get through immigration, collect your bags and get to the station. Only a moron can take more than two seconds to find a cash machine: only an American will indulge in an orgy of self-centred obsession about finding a particular brand of cash machine. Only you know which of these labels applies to you.

So meet your Amsterdam arrivals at T1. Wait for the the next person there.

What's the problem?

Hi,

Your scenario is even more convoluted than mine Three different arrivals. Good luck

Ours w/ T3 and T 1 worked fine. You are in a different situation. We all arrived at about the same time and 1&3 are walking distance from each other.

In your situation (and with the T1 arrivals being the later ones) I'd book two drivers. One to meet you and whisk you off to the flat. Book a second driver to deal w/ the T1 arrivals. It will of course cost more, but will be the easiest option. W/ an 11:30 arrival you can be at the flat about the time the last arrival is out of arrivals. The 2nd driver can be set to meet the last flight. Exit from arrivals in T1 is where the drivers meet their parties. I believe there is a Costa Coffee near there.

That assumes you can get in to the flat by 1:30 or 2:00.

I agree with Janis. You are ADULTS and I am certain can deal with two different drivers. Make the "meeting point" the flat, not someplace at the airport.

Certainly do the math but I think the group of 3 should consider using a black taxi/cab. It's almost always poor value for less than 3 but 3 or more usually works out the same or less than a shuttle.

In T1 as you come out of the baggage hall you practically fall into a Costa Coffee if you want to fix that as a meeting point.

I'm with janisj on this one. If any of the parties are delayed, you have a nightmare on your hands trying to meet up at the airport. If you agree to head straight for the apartment, there's no problem whatsoever.

Thank you for your input and responses. We have gone to Plan B, each woman for herself to meet at the flat.

1) The ONE shuttle service in London is incredibly poor value
2) Car services charge per car not passenger
3) Black cabs will cost at least twice that of a car service - and charge per car not passenger also
