Apex International or Radisson Blu Edinburgh

Hello
I'd like to do a 2 night stay in Edinburgh then continue to London by train. Booking.com gives me 176 GBP for Apex and 220 GBP for Radisson. It is important for me to stay closer to Waverley and castle area.
Can someone please tell me if the difference in price is worth it? I think both hotels are in the same general area. Can I walk from either to the station with 1 baggage?

Any other advantages in staying at Radisson?

Thanks a lot

The Raddison is certainly the more convienient but both places are cebtral raddison in on the high street part of the Royal Mile which is tourist central and maybe a 6 or 7 minute walk from the train station. The Aoex is in the grassmarket area and is almost below the castle and bit further walking from the train station. There is a newish Apex in Waterloo place that may be worth looking at.100's of other hotels all within easy walking of the train station and i think you should b able to get a better deal than what you are being quited.

Hello unclegus and thanks for your help. I limit my search to 4 star hotels with free wifi and I thought those 2 were best f the bunch and within my price range. I'll have another look though

Though the distances aren't far as the crow flies, to get to either of these hotels from Waverly station means a slog up a steep hill (possibly in the rain/wind . Maybe fine if you have a roller case that's not too big/heavy. Otherwise jump in a taxi at the station.

IMO, the Radisson has the edge over the Apex both in terms of location (right on the Royal Mile) and the room quality.

If you want access to station and castle then the Jury's Inn would be the obvious choice

Start looking at maps rather than facilities (which tell you nothing about the hotel anyway unless 3 conference rooms and a restaurant are essential to your life).

The Apex City is a few doors away from the Apex International, therefore it has the same problems of being on the wrong side of Castle Rock from Waverley.

Aside from the Jurys Inn, Scotsman & Motel 1 no Edinburgh hotel is going to be convenient to both the Castle AND the station.

Ok, seems that I will have to take a taxi to the station anyway. In that case, I need a hotel that allows me to do most sightseeing and shopping on foot. Any recommendations please.

Most of the ones mentioned so far are in Old Town and walking distance to the Castle/Royal Mile.

Don't know your dates - rates vary significantly - but check the Fraser Suites. Terrific location mere steps from St Giles Cathedral/Royal Mile. http://edinburgh.frasershospitality.com

>>I limit my search to 4 star hotels with free wifi <<

I see this sometimes -- "Only free wifi" -- and actually don't get it. Say there are two wonderful hotels - one costs £160 a night and charges £10 per day for wifi, the second one offers free wifi but costs £175 a night. Why is the free wifi property better???

Wouldn't the total cost be important?
