I copied this off of tripadvisor..
http://www.vrbo.com/ is a large world-wide lister. It appears to be owned by
http://www.homeaway.com/ There was one person who said she would not use vrbo again, but did not specify the nature of the problem.
http://www.vacationinparis.com/index.html also appears to be owned by homeaway but obviously specializes in Paris rentals. Numerous people have used and liked its services, although its website is a bit cumbersome. One person definitely had a very bad experience (ants!) with a VIP rental.
Because the above agencies have many listings, they have the broadest ranges of prices, and have properties all over town. All are American owned.
http://www.homelidays.com/ is similar with many listings world-wide, but appears to be French owned. You have to “join” their website to get some details on properties.
http://www.villeetvillage.com/ also appears to be French owned. It lists properties in France and Italy and a few in Spain and Portugal.
http://www.athomeinfrance.com/about.htm is a large lister of 350 properties all over France. It appears to be owned by Americans who now live in France.
http://www.chezvous.com/main.html is American-owned, but has fewer listings, and only in the first, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. They appear to be nicer properties and therefore more expensive.
parisaddress.com/paris-apartment-rental/inde… is a smaller lister, apparently a cooperative venture of French apartment owners.
http://perfectlyparis.com/ is similar and seems to have a larger listing of apartments. It specializes in Montmartre, where rents are generally lower and therefore you may find a better value.
http://www.guestapartment.com/ specializes in luxury apartments, and is priced accordingly.
http://www.parisvacationapartments.com/ also is quite high-end.
http://haveninparis.com/ is in-between in that it seems pricier than some, but not luxury.
http://centreparis.com/ has generally less-expensive rentals, mostly in Montmartre, very few (two) in the Fourth though Eighth.
http://www.feelparis.com/en/ is an agency with a lot of listings, mostly in the Marais. A friend of mine has used it several times and is very satisfied.
http://www.rentparis.com/home.php?l=en has mostly economical properties, mostly in the Marais.
http://parisautrement.com/en only lists in the Marais, and prices seem to range from very reasonable to moderate.
The following listings appear to be owned and listed by the same persons. In other words, you would be dealing directly with the owner.
http://pad-a-terre.com/ has several apartments, perhaps above-average in price and quality. I found the website hard to search.
http://www.parisbestlodge.com/ is individually-owned. He has six apartments but also has a page listing apartments owned by others.
http://rentalfrance.com/ has 17 apartments listed. It is not clear if they are all owned by the same person.
http://www.parisdisiac.com/ has nine apartments, and the prices seem reasonable, but there is an extra 40€ “cleaning charge.”
I should also mention http://www.parisrentaparts.com/ which is the topic of another thread in this forum. One member had a bad experience and you can read about it yourself here: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187147-i14-k58164…
Thank you for listing all the websites!
We booked through ParisAddress.com nut we leave Saturday so I won't know until a few weeks from now whether to recommend.
I'm thinking of booking through ADAYINPARIS.FR
Apartment is in the 2nd arrondissement, Montorgueil neighborhood. Started a new forum, but if anyone here has any comment on this, that would be great!
We rented an apartment for September - October from http://www.rentals-paris.com/. We really like this site because it is run by an American, Glenn Cooper and he lives in Paris. We found him from a newsletter called Paris Notes, which is about everything you would want to know about Paris. You might want to check both of these out.
Lots of good apartment websites. We just rented an apartment in the marais from vrbo. The person I spoke with was very personable and efficient and is located in the U.S. We have also rented with success with rentparis.com, vacationinparis.com (which does not appear to be part of homeaway, but a company located in NJ)and a private party that I found on the internet. We have never had a problem with rentals. One of our vacationinparis rentals was not to our liking, but I can only fault ourselves for going with one of the cheapest rentals on the website. Cyberrentals is another website that is a homeaways owned site. I have actually rented a cottage in Maine from that site.
We have used www.VRBO.com with success.
But our favorite apartment and experience was with www.guestapartment.com We rented HIBISCUS and it was perfect for us.
Cat - we also are booked with ParisAddress for September so would appreciate your comments when you return. I must say we have been very pleased with all our communications with them so far.
Have a great trip and look forward to hearing from you.
I booked an apartment with parisattitude.com and was very happy with the apartment and the service.
I tried to book through VacationinParis, but they only
have one available and it's a bit over our budget.
crickmd, do you mind sharing which one. There are several we could choose from, but I'm most concerned with quiet and cross ventilation as most are not AC in our price range. Thanks!
Cat,
We too are booked with ParisAddress and arrive on Sunday from Norhtern California. Which apartment did you book? We booked the BRANLY in the 7th with the terrace with a view of Tour Eiffel. Making me even sadder that we can't make the Cave Moelle.

Try homeaway.com Happy Travels!
i was very satisfied with vacationinparis.com.
i rented #122 in the 6th for 8 nights and was very comfortable with the apt and the way the n.j. based company handled the entire transaction including automatic return of the deposit within a week of our return.
Another happy vacationinparis.com customer. We had studio #100 in the 5th for several nights in March. Very pleased with the experience.

Avoid the Lodgis apartment rental agency. We rented a sweet-looking apartment, only to arrive and find it was filthy and had a plugged toilet. The property manager refused to fix the problem and moved us to an apartment in a noisy neighborhood at the outskirts of the city, then refused to answer our e-mails requesting a partial refund.
