I was about to book an apartmet and then saw this on booking.com for 1/2 the price of what I was going to book. Granted the apartment is bigger but the price difference is nice. There are no reviews yet on either booking.com and tripadvisor so I don't know if it's newly renovated. The pics look great but afraid to bit the bullet without more reviews(there's literally only 1 so far).

The location looks again, very central, but wondered about the noise level in this area.

Haven't stayed here, but looks perfectly fine. Very central location just off Plaza Santa Ana on a nice and narrow street. But the hostal is next door to legendary flamenco restaurant Villa Rosa and probably on top of restaurant/bar La Fragua de Vulcano. Villa Rosa stays open until 2am every night, and I have had some late night paella at Fragua de Vulcano at about 1am, so expect some noise.

They serve excellent jamón ibérico (cured ibérico ham) in Fragua de Vulcano at a very reasonable price, and Villa Rosa uses to stage only great flamenco artists, often some of the very best

Hostal Prado is just opposite of both Villa Rosa and La Fragua de Vulcano (see above).

Spoke to them. Only opened two weeks ago. All but one room give out to an interior bright inner patio. Should not be noisy.Looks nice. Do not confuse with Hostal PRADA when booking.

Then this looks like a bargain (59€ for a double), I will strongly consider it for the next time in Madrid.

yes, looks very good. weekends are more expensive, he said. fee cancellation two days in advance. I love the neighborhood.
