Has anyone flown SWISS airlines recently from the U.S. to Europe? They are starting a route from San Francisco - Zurich and I got a very good airfare but I've never heard from anyone who has flown them.
Anyone flown SWISS?

Not impressed, service o.k. They lost my luggage. Not good.
Fly them twice a year ORD to ZRH. Service is ok. I prefer Swiss over my usual UA, because Swiss is in the Star Alliance and they fly non-stop to ZRH from ORD. Are they anything special? Not really. Do I mind flying with them? Not at all.
We have flown with them to Rome several times. No problems at all. Nice entertainment screens, fair food, nice people.
We have flown with them twice in the past year. BOS to IST and BOS to CDG. We will be flying in November BOS to BCN. We had good flights, were able to get exit rows on 3 of 4 legs and despite the typical airplane food, we were served wine and beer gratuit and toblerone chocolates. The seats had seatback screens with a good selection of viewing. We had no problems connecting. We always carry on so we had no problem with luggage. I chose them because they had the best airfare and they proved to be quite good.
Not since 2008, but we like the LAX-ZRH service a lot. The Zurich airport is very convenient for airline and train connections, and access to the city is a snap if you need to spend the first or last night there.
I flew Swiss from Zurich to LAX last year in Business Class and I wasn't the least bit impressed, in fact I was really disappointed. Poor service, really bad food (the vegetarian option was shameful) and uncomfortable Business Class seats.
I love Zurich airport though and the Business Class lounge was really nice, but Swiss, nah, I won't be going out of my way to fly them again.
Swiss lost my luggage between Geneva and Prague - it was sent to Istanbul! But they got it back 2 days later...
I've flown Swiss ZUR-IAD, Zur-BOS, ZUR-EWR, ZUR-ORD, ZUR-LAX and its OK.
I agree completely with Melnq8 that Business is not worth the $ or miles - you can't recline fully so you are sliding down the seat the whole trip. Not comfortable.
Swiss lost my luggage for 2 days also once. But I did get reimbursed 200Chf!
According to Swiss, the SFO-ZRH and ZRH-SFO flights will have true "lie flat" seats and I have heard that the route will use new (or newish) aircraft. So it may be a better than usual experience, at least in biz class.
The Swiss has new business class seats, which are totallly lie flat.
BTW, missed baggage is usually the fault of the (departure) airport, not of the airline.
Thanks everyone. Even though we will not be flying business class, I now feel much better about our reservations.
