Anyone familiar with Through Eternity Tours in Rome?
My husband and I will be in Rome next week and want to do several walking tours. Context Rome gets a lot of recommendations but is very pricey. From its website, Through Eternity Tours looks really good, and in most cases is a little less expensive. But I'm reluctant to book without hearing from someone who has toured with them. ??? We are thinking of Vatican, Colosseum/Ancient Rome and perhaps one other, either Ostia Antica or Tivoli. This is our second trip to Rome, but last trip we were unable to do any tours. Any recommendations or suggestions??

I will say that my Context Rome tour of the Vatican Museum was the single best decision I made on my last trip to Rome. It was FANTASTIC, and worth every penny. I know there is a bit of sticker shock there, but trust me, you won't regret it.

We used Through Eternity Tours last Sept. I would highly recommend this tour company. Our tour was St. Peter's/Vatican. It was wonderful!! Our tour guide was a young man from Ireland. The tour was about 5 hours and worth every penny.
Enjoy!!

We LOVED Icon Tours, very reasonable prices and great guides. Check out their site...www.icontours.com

The highlight of our recent trip to Rome was our guide, Francesca Caruso. We found out after our tour that Rick Steves uses her for one of his Rome guides. We booked her for the Colosseum, Forum and Pantheon, and I wish we had booked her for the Vatican also, as our guide there was not very good. She was outstandingly accommodating, friendly and very knowledgable. Her cost was 40 euro /hour (not per person). Contact her at [email protected] (No, I'm not related to her!)

Thanks for the input! Has anyone toured the ghetto area in Rome with Jewish Roma walking tours? I found them on the net, and they sound legit and like a great way to tour the area, but who knows... Context Rome offers a similar tour and their tour includes Trastevere. Any advise on how good that tour is or how important the Trastevere portion might be. The trade off is touring with a native of the area with Jewish Roma. I posted this question in another message as it might be specific to Jewish tourists in Rome. Thanks again for the input!

Hi Solomon--
As with any tour, the tour is only as good as your guide. I used Context Rome for our Vatican tour and loved it! I used Through Eternity for the Colliseum tour, and also loved that tour. Our tour guide (I don't remember his name) was an American in his mid-20s who was very into theater. Needless to say, he was highly entertaining! I liked the tour so much, I recommended TE to my aunt, who just returned from Italy last month. She had a different guide, and thought the tour was very informative, but not as entertaining as my experience. I liked that both companies limit the size of the groups, and the guides all speak very good English (both our guides were Americans). I am SOOO glad we spent the money on the tours. It was money well spent! Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
