Following bin Laden's death, the heightened terrorism alerts around the world might make traveling tricky, especially for Americans. I know the threat is not specific but Europe is and always has been a big target. I really don't want to reconsider my trip and cancel everything but I'm wondering if it's just a bad time right now. What do you think?
Anyone considering canceling Europe trip due to heightened alerts?

No, I'm not changing my plans. I depart tomorrow.
Not me. I leave June 1st and again on September 4th.
I never do..
We are going in August - even if the trip was this month, I wouldn't cancel.
If they bomb my flat, what are my options? Maybe the landord is lowering the rent because a wall is missing?
You think he would agree? Nah, greeedy b...

I do like crazy questions
By the way, I have a reservation for mid September in Eilat.
. Just go where you planned. No need to worry.
What if Obama bin Ladens ghost is hunting me at the beach?
That would be bad, wouldn't it?
You really think there's a problem?
Jealous scatcat! Where to?
Not me. I'm leaving for Europe this coming sunday.
And we will be back to the USA even if it IS #1 target; if you change your life at all in response to these things the lunatics have won! I, for one, would much rather die than let them win
"ohohoh say can you see he he he"
No, I am not cancelling my reservations because of heightened security, although I am cancelling because my DH is in the hospital. This is the second year in a row that I have had to cancel Paris and Amsterdam. Last year the airline cancelled our flight due to the volcano ash.
Last night or the night before a drunk teenager drove the wrong way on a local parkway while texting. Head on collision, two deaths, neither, sadly, his own, if I remember.
More people die in auto accidents in the US in six months than have been killed by terrorists in the history of the country.
Still, we drive.
Well I would not be wearing the American Flag on my back and a Yankee ball cap!
We are in Italy for 2 weeks in October and the only thing that I am worried about are those crazy drivers.
Enjoy and don't worry, life is not a rehershal !

Not even remotely thinking about it. Considering I drive in the NYC area, I've got a better chance getting bumped off by some one texting than any thing from a terrorist. LOL.
I'll maintain my normal awarness but that's about it.
Paris in a few weeks.
Anyone who actually cancels a trip because of headlines like this is pretty much a lunatic IMO.
No, makes no impact at all.
As others have stated, the odds are higher that something will happen to you at home versus a terrorist attack in Europe.
No, not at all. We leave in the middle of June.
oldmacdonaild- June, I am going to Germany, Austria, and Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Everything is already booked. September, I am going to Munich for 5 nights solo, then my son will join me. He has his choice of travel in September. He is checking on a cruise from Venice to the Greek Isles on MSC Cruise Lines. then back up to Frankfurt for the International Auto Show---he never misses that. Then our flight back home from Frankfurt. If he decides against the cruise, he's considering going back to Budapest, Prague, and Berlin. We've been to all of those several times, but never to the Greek Isles. The only thing booked for September at this time is the airfare.
I live quite close to the Seal Team's base....I KNOW I'm safer in Europe.
There is a military presence around musuems here in Paris since yesterday. Other than that, it is business as usual.
My french is a dead giveaway that I am American, but no one seems to give a wit. Come and spend your money!
Fanweiyi, if you are truly worried about being injured during your trip, then do not drive a car to the airport. That is the risky part of your trip for personal injury.
LOL, I am more concerned with the US dollar and the euro...I leave May 6. If I have to die, Italy would be my first choice of places to die. I did register with the American embassy in Rome, and I have never done that before. But I would not cancel for anything..
I am leaving for Europe on May 26th. I have no intentions of cancelling my trip but will monitor the evolving situation closely. Frankly, my concern would be airport security in the US upon departure. I am less concerned about my safety in Europe.
Every year it has been something ,Pandemic, bird flu, swine flue, volcano....just realize there will always be SOMETHING and have a great vacation!
Not on your life!! This can't be a serious question.
