Sal, La Tour D'argent is a truly "magic" place. The view(especially at night) is incredible, especially if you are able to book a window table. The food and service are exceptional, especially if you stick to the dishes they are best known for. I would start with foie gras, move on to duck a l'orange and finish with their plate of fresh fruit sorbets or profiteroles. Their wine list is the VERY BEST in the world. Their cellar contains over 500,000 of the greatestg French wines to be found anywhere. If you go try to get a tour of the cellar as well. Murray.

Funny story. Went there for a honeymoon dinner years ago. We admired a beautiful French couple celebrating near us, drinking champagne after champagne and very much in love. It wasn't until we left that we realized we had been given their bill and they had paid ours. We never worked it out, even tho we paid more. We felt so entertained by them.

We had lunch at La Tour d'Argent a few years ago and were quite disappointed - not with the food so much as with the fact that we were almost the only diners. M. Terrail was there but seemed to be upset about something. Maybe this is a singular experience.

Thank you for your responses. I think I read lately that the service at Tour d'Argent is haughty, but I read that about a lot of restaurants. What is haughty? I think I'd rather have haughty (if that means a certain pride and professionalism) as opposed to what passes for service in many expensive restaurants I've been to here at home.
