I went early September a couple of years ago. The weather then was pleasant enough but not spetacular. I did a weeks tour and a weeks stay.

The resort, Golden Sands, was a bit disappointing for me as there didn't seem much to do, during the day, if you didn't like the beach and I'm not much of a beach person. Whilst it was warm enough in sheltered places a cool sea breeze rather took the edge off the beach. I've no idea how much, if at all, the weather deteriorates during September/October.

Along with frequent wine factory visits other highlights of my travels in Bulgaria include the Rila Monastery, Plovdiv and the 'Panorama' commemorating the battle of Pleven which is truly amazing (or that might be Pleven and the battle of Plovdiv!).

Hi, Sandy!
I live in Sofia, Bulgaria. The weather in October is between 10-18 Celsius. If you are lucky there might be sunny days and Autumn is very beautiful then.
Some cool suggestions:
->take a day or two to go sightseeing in Sofia: some interesting churches, visit the National Museum of History, and if you like wandering - there many small art galleries downtown.
->visit Plovdiv, especially the old town: exceptionally preserved architecture from the Bulgarian Reneisance - a day is enough.
->if you decide to rent a car a wonderful three-day root will be from Sofia to the east, visiting small towns in the Valley of roses situated around the highway - first Koprivshtitsa (a well preserved ethnographic complex), then Kazanlak - just in the heart of the valley, from there to the north to Gabrove where there is another fascinating ethnographic complex called "Etara", and from there to Veliko Tarnovo - the old Bulgarian capital with fortresses and the Palace of Bulgarian Tzars (until 15th century AD). It's around 600 km altogether (including the way back). Roads are comparatively safe. If you have further inquires - don't hesitate to ask.
Svetoslav
