Anybody order Alhambra tickets by phone?

Has anybody tried ordering Alhambra tix by phone instead of on-line? Rick Steves gives a number and says you will get an English-speaking rep. I if anybody has tried this, did the process go smoothly? Also, did you get an e-mail confirmation of your order or just a verbal confirmation number? If only a verbal, did that work okay when you picked up the actual tickets at the Alhambra or the Alhambra bookstore in town?

I've looked at the website but tix for June are not available yet. I simulated the process for April and had problems with it. That is why I am considering phoning.

Any feedback about the phone process would be appreciated.

I had no problems with the online service at all. Bought both day time and night visits. You just have to check it regularly, almost daily really, as I did not see any pattern as to when the tix for my desired date would go on sale.

Alhambra authorities (Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife) are releasing tickets later and later to Ticketmaster Spain for online sale. While in theory they should be available three months in advance, it has been anything down to a few weeks. You may have better luck by phoning, as you then deal with the Patronato directly.

Alhambra tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster for June 2015 - just booked two this a.m. as I have been checking daily waiting for June to become available for booking.

We can redeem vouchers for tickets so I'm hoping someone can confirm we can do this a day ahead instead of day of since our tickets will be for 8:30 a.m. - only 1/2 hr. after the box office opens. Can anyone confirm purchase or exchange doable a day ahead?

Yes, you can pick up the tickets at the Caixa bank machine in the Alhambra bookstore in town. We did this the evening before our 8:30 visit. Print out your receipt and bring the CC you used to buy the tix.

And then...the next morning you can save a lot of time by entering through the Justicia gate. Check my never-ending trip for more Alhambra tips:

The Caixa machine is very near the entrance to the store, and there is an English-speaking, helpful staff member ready to assist you in printing out your tickets.
