Continental would be my choice - http://www.hotelcontinental.no/HCeng
Others might prefer the Thief http://thethief.com/en/ or Thon Opera http://www.thonhotels.no/hoteller/la...n-hotel-opera/ for convenience.

You tagged your post Iceland, so anyone limiting the posts they see by country wouldn't see it in the Norway forum.

Abram -

There are not any different forums for each country. All of europe posts are on the same thread. People's tags indicate what countries they are interested in.

You're trying to send people to something that doesn't exist.

We stayed at the Grand several years ago and loved it. Wonderful breakfast buffet.

The Grand worked very well for us too. Excellent breakfast and one of the best front desk staffs we have ever encountered.

I stayed at the Grand several years ago and loved it. The breakfast has to be one of the best served anywhere. Great location and, as already stated, excellent staff.

poster has checked in with several different names...always looking for luxury hotels. Now she's back with same pic and same request but different handle. Ok, Tonya...here's something a little less than luxury but nicely situated in the Embassy district which we found to be appealing. Walking distance to Aker Brygge and downtown Oslo..frequent trolley, if you wish. Gabelshus Hotel, ClarionCollectionhttps://picasaweb.google.com/stuarttower/NorwayScenes?authkey=Gv1sRgCJuHk6iIgbSEgAE#

I expect you will flit in and out as you usually do, but I'll chance it that this time you're for real..which I doubt.

nyt, you're right--I misspoke (or mis-wrote).
I was trying to suggest that some posters may filter what posts they read by country tags and that the OP would miss getting input from people knowledgeable about Oslo who only look at posts tagged Norway.

Is the Thon Hotel Opera the same as the Thon Hotel Bristol? We are staying there before our National Geographic polar bear cruise (it is part of the package) and are wondering if we should stay there for a few days after the cruise, or move on to somewhere else?

We stayed at The Tone Opera hotel last spring, and enjoyed our time there. It is on the harbourside and close to bot the main station and the opera house. It is a modern well-equipped hotel, with pleasant and capable staff. I am not sure that I would call it "luxury", since it is efficient rather than full of flim-flam, but I would happily stay there again.

Thon Bristol is a nice hotel - haven't stayed there as I live in Oslo, but the lobby is one of the classiest and most comfortable places to have a quiet chat with friends over a coffee or drink.
