I have two adult tickets to the Buckingham Palace and State Rooms tour on 7 August that my husband and I will no longer be able to use and of course they do not allow booking modifications. Someone mentioned trying to sell them on Gumtree but he site isn't working for me- any other suggestions?
We might be able to use the tickets if they were at a different time, like in the morning as opposed to the afternoon. Are they strict on what time you attend your tour? Do you think anyone would trade times with me?
Any idea what to do with these tickets (London)

have you emailed the palace ticket office and asked - if so did they say you have to enter at that time? Did they say you could not change the time? curious.
I emailed and they gave me a number to call, but the booking office said "No modifications or refunds". Naturally.
Just a note for others - I have gone in August twice and never had problems buying tickets shortly before I wanted to enter - waiting about an hour or so - but this year with the Olympics the situation is different and I would also book in advance. But otherwise IME no need to book ahead and then have resulting problems if you want to change, etc.
Not because of the Olympics - the jubilee has greatly increased interest in the Palace this year. Plus the Diamonds exhibition.
Are you in London before the date? You could go to the on-site ticket office and try to sell them to folks in the queue.
And then try to buy new tickets for a day that works for you.
janisj - are you saying that it would be impossible to buy tickets just by showing up as has always been the case in the past? Is there that much more demand - and actually Olympics may be scaring typical tourists away? I can see why Jubilee and Diamonds Exhibit make spark interest though.
I'm saying that interest in visiting the Palace is higher this year because of the Diamond Jubilee and the Diamonds exhibition.
Has nothing to do w/ the Olympics . . .
Perhaps your hotel can do something.. if someone wants those tickets and they purchase another time for you.
Your hotel can certainly get you tickets at a time you can use. Can;t imagine they would be interested in your non-usable tickets.
Will you be in the UK in advance of the day of the tickets - perhaps you can sell them there via Craig or local equivalent.
Does London have a Craigslist?
I don't know if this would work for you, but we had extra tickets for the Edinburgh Festival which we were able to sell by posting a "For Sale" sign on the bulletin board at the hotel in Edinburgh where we stayed (small hotel). Probably wouldn't work if you're staying in a large commercial hotel, but perhaps the concierge could help?
