If you have second thoughts about Kompas check UniRent. We booked our car through them for Croatia last Oct. and they had good prices and good service.
They are not a broker. They provide the cars. We picked up the car at the Zagreb airport. I think they provide cars all over Croatia.

Car hire is a lottery. In my experience, you could find ten good reviews and still have a problem. I have been renting from different companies for many years and so far no issues.

I booked a car also over economy car rentals with service provider Kompas car rental. I got an free upgrade and the car had zero miles brand new volkswagen.
Kind agent at Dubrovnik airport made a papers in 5 minutes (since I have all details in computer).
I would be greateful to Hertz if they could provide me such a great service in states.

I cannot comment on the company you are referring too as have not had any exerience with it, however I would like you and the others make you aware of the rent -a - car company "Auto Benussi" from Pula.

I have from the start had a very bad experience with them when they would not let me to hire a car for couple of days as they would loose the money. Few days later I have lost the keys and it took them two days to deliever it to me. Today I have found out that they have without my authority taken the money from my account.

Do not use them again as their customer service is not as we would have seen in England and I am originally from Croatia.
