Any Australians flown Vietnam Airlines to Europe?
Hi there!
Just wanted to know feedback of flying Vietnam Airlines long haul? The offer amazing flight deals in comparison to others. Mid September roughly $1400 return in comparison to Emirates $1900 per person?
Thanking you in advance for your feedback.
Emma

I haven't Emma, but just wanted to say that often the really cheap flights are REALLY long. With several refuelling stops that aren't long enough to let you do anything except hang around the airport.

I haven't flown them either Emma, but you can have a look at the reviews on the Skytrax website, and that may help you decide. I usually fly Melb-Paris return via Singapore or Malaysian airlines as they have both proven the most consistent in terms of service, food and timeliness for me over the years. Also, I saw your thread on 8 days in Paris. My personal view would be to base in Paris for the whole time, but if you want to get out of central Paris, have a look at a train trip to the Loire Valley. You can go from Gare d'Austerlitz (station in Paris) to Blois in 90 minutes on an Intercite train. Explore that town and its Royal Chateau, stay overnight, and then on Day 2 go to a couple of other chateaux eg Chambord and Cheverny (both are about 15km from Blois, but in different directions). You could even have a hot air balloon either in the evening or first thing in the morning with Montgolfiere in Blois. Then just catch the train back to Paris in the afternoon of Day 2.

Vietnam Aır is excellent, lovely staff, food and cheap b.class but it will take more than thirty hours to get to Europe!!!Lots of stops on different routs,
Beware with Emirates, they advertise straight flights to Dubai but stop off in Kuala Lumpur and if you bought duty-free in Australia it will be conficticated by the customs in KL--if it is over 100 ml.

I've flown Vietnam Air short hauls, both domestic and international. Very competent, and easy to deal with via Internet. But I can't comment on the comfort of a long-distance route, other than to say all the equipment is new.

You could also register at FlyerTalk and ask this question in the VietnamAir forum. For me, the number of stops and the time between flights would be the concern; your trip from Oz is already long enough.

In 35 seconds on the Vietnam airlines website I put in a fake itinerary from Melbourne to London and it says one stop = a plane change in the city formerly known as Saigon. Perhaps Emma has done the same?
