I am travelling from Antwerp to Amsterdam before returning to Brussels. I was wondering which is a better (and economical) option to travel via Thalys train:
a) Travel from Antwerp to Brussels first and purchase a round-trip ticket for Brussels & Amsterdam;
b) Train from Antwerp to Amsterdam then, train from Amsterdam to Brussels.
Would appreciate any recommendations you have.
Many thanks!

If you use the Thalys you'll save by buying in advance... up to 3 months. If local trains, no differnce.
Why not buy a return Antwerp to Amsterdam Thalys ticket and then once back in Antwerp just pay the fare on a local train back to Brussels - then you would not have to back track to Brussels in the first place. If you cannot get the deep discounted Thalys tickets then you can always take the flat fare IC trains where you just buy your ticket anytime and can take any of the hourly IC trains - no seat reservations possible - just hop on - but if you can get one of the cheap return Thalys tickets go for it. Check prices for IC trains at www.ns.nl - Dutch railways site and www.thalys.com for Thalys fares.
For lots of great info on Thalys trains and trains in Belgium and Holland check out these fine IMO sites - www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. But the early bird gets the worm on Thalys - the discounted tickets are sold in allotments so book as early as possible.
Okay, will definitely check out those websites. Thanks for your advice!
