Another train question!

Sorry. Another question. I'd like to book our Rome to Naples tickets online but on the Trenitalia site they ask you to pick your fare. Do I have to click through all 8 choices to find the cheapest or does anyone know offhand which to choose? Venice to Rome listed the 29E fare but the Rome/Naples is just a list of Italian words. Yikes! Also, their was a Due pour Uno or something like that, which even I could figure out but they won't let me choose this for 4 people. Help!

There is rarely a need to book or buy your tickets in advance in Italy. Why not wait to buy them when you arrive in Roma?

Yes, this WAS the English version. Just the fares were in Italian. I may just wait. I've done it before. Just trying to decide when to leave Rome to alert our driver in Naples when we will arrive.

If your driver in Napoli doens't have a cell phone, he's not a real Italian! He (she?) probably has e-mail too. I'd wait until you really know when you want to leave Roma. It may be earlier or later than you now have in mind.

Hi rbnwdln, I agree with nessundorma, your driver must have a cell phone and should have or will give you his cell phone number. Buy your train ticket when you arrive in Rome and then call him (or her?) and advise as to when your train will arrive. If your driver does not have a cell phone number to provide to you I would find a different driver. Enjoy your time in Italy!

I booked a full price ticket online from Foligno to Rome. As circumstance would have it...I had to chance my plans. I went to the train station to change my ticket and the person in customer service said I could and to go to the ticket counter. The person at the ticket counter pointed to an automated machine and told me to go. I went to the machine but the message I kept getting was "Service not available". I went back to the counter and she came over to the machine...when she did not get anywhere with it she took my confirmation and stomped off. She came back with a hard ticket for the original date and time I had booked for. I told her in very broken italian that I needed to change to domani. She said several times..."internet...no change!"..."internet...no change!". I went back to the very nice man in customer service and he accompanied me to the counter. He asked which person I spoke to. He had words with her and she would still not make the change. He then turned to the next counter and had a very heated discussion with her co-worker who did finally make the change for me...I was very thankful that this person helped me. I'm sure that eventually, internet will work quite well for Trenitalia but if you need to make a change to your ticket after purchase...you may be out of luck. I have decided that in future I will wait until I get to my destination and try to buy it at the first opportunity while there.

Of course the driver has a cell. He was 'pronto'ing all over the place last year! Hahaha I decided to wait to get the ticket in Rome but emailed him with a general idea so he can plan his day. We are leaving next Wednesday, so I'm trying to nail as much down as I can! Whooppeee.....
