Another Paris suburb: Moret-sur-Loing

Although the impressionist painter Alfred Sisley is not as famous as Vincent Van Gogh, he lived in Moret-sur-Loing for ten years until his death and painted a number of images of the village and the surrounding fields.

It is quite easy to go to Moret because it is on the same line as Fontainebleau, just a couple of stops farther out, so it would be relatively simple to combine a visit to both places in the same day.

Anyway, I was in Moret-sur-Loing yesterday, another one of our heat wave days, but the presence of the river made the temperature bearable. The Loing flows into the Seine just past Moret. Here is my photo report about my little trip: http://tinyurl.com/moret

Boundless thanks, kerouac, for yet another visual feast! One more addition to the list of places to visit in person one day.

Last month we visited the Asnieres-sur-Seine pet cemetery which was the subject of one of your earlier posts and I found myself repeatedly thinking "oh, yes, kerouac showed this in his post!"

Kerouac, I can only repeat what opaldog said. I want to go there. You should work for the chamber of commerce!! Many thanks.

And I'll ditto opaldog and taconictraveler. Seriously, the French Government Tourist Office should hire you. You keep forcing me to add to my "to see next time" list. I'll probably never have enough "next times" to see all the places you've so beautifully and interestingly shown us. Sigh.

Kerouac, ditto all that has been said above. Beautiful! At what time of day did you take these pics? The streets were so deserted.

Merci encore...

I arrived there around 10:30 a.m. and left about 2 hours later. (I am a very rapid visitor.)

Another town I must go to next time I'm in Paris. It appears very peaceful and picturesque. Once again, thank you for your photo trip.

kerouac, your reports and pictures are so wonderful you make me want to leap on a plane right now! Thank you so much for the enjoyment you bring....I'm loving these little "painting tours" especially.
